Santorini (Thira) (South Aegean (Cyclades))
Santorini (Θήρα) is the crescent-shaped rim of an active underwater volcano whose colossal Minoan eruption around 1600 BC sculpted one of the most breathtaking seascapes on Earth. Along the western caldera edge, the whitewashed villages of Fira, Firostefani, Imerovigli, and Oia cling to 300-meter vertical cliffs of red, black, and pumice-white volcanic rock plunging into a deep cobalt lagoon.
Beyond its world-famous sunset viewpoints, Santorini rewards travelers who explore its volcanic interior and archaeological heritage: the remarkably preserved 3,600-year-old frescoed town of Akrotiri, basket-trained Assyrtiko vines coiled close to the volcanic ash soil against the Meltemi wind, and hilltop medieval castelli at Pyrgos and Emporio.

在地貼士與禮儀
- Never take an unbooked taxi at Athinios Ferry Port without confirming the fixed rate (€35–€45 to Fira/Oia), or take the waiting KTEL bus to Fira (€2.50) which meets every scheduled ferry.
- Do not ride donkeys up the Old Port steps in Fira; use the modern Fira Cable Car (€10 each way, 3 minutes) or arrive via Athinios New Port.
- For caldera sunset dining, reserve 2–3 weeks ahead in summer—or watch the sunset for free from Skaros Rock in Imerovigli or the lighthouse at Akrotiri.
